A Simple Kit of Plate-Trapped Antigen Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay for Identification of Plant Viruses Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Nascimento,Aline Kelly Queiróz; Lima,José Albersio Araújo; Barbosa,Graziela da Silva.
ABSTRACT Many methods can be used for arriving in a correct virus disease diagnose, and the serological techniques are the most used methods for plant virus identification. The indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (Indirect-ELISA) or plate-trapped antigen ELISA (PTA-ELISA) has been useful for detection of viruses in a wide range of situations, especially to test a large number of samples in a relatively short period of time. Immune-biological Companies have developed practical kits for direct ELISA or double antibody sandwich (DAS-ELISA), but neither Company has developed kits for PTA-ELISA. As a single universal antibody-conjugate is used for detection of a wide range of plant viruses, the PTA-ELISA technique is more economical, practical and...

Detection and characterization of a Cucumber mosaic virus isolate infecting peperina, a species native to Argentina Agriscientia (Córdoba)
Rodríguez Pardina,P; Ojeda,M; Biderbost,E; Di Feo,L.
Minthostachys mollis (Kunth.)

Detection of Cucumber mosaic virus in commercial anthurium crops and genotypes evaluation Horticultura Brasileira
Miura,Nancy de S; Beriam,Luís OS; Rivas,Eliana B.
In Brazil, Anthurium andraeanum (flamingo flower) stands out as an important species for cut leaves and flowers productions, as well as potted cultivation. Due to the fact that ornamental plants play an important part in the tropical agriculture diversification, there is great interest to know the problems that affect anthurium cultivation in order to improve its productive potential. The aims of this study were identify the causal agent of intense mosaic and leaf deformation observed in anthurium commercial crops from four cities of the São Paulo state, Brazil; to assess the extent of the virus occurrence in these cities and the methods for its detection, as well as to analyse the anthurium genotypes reactions in relation to the virus. Anthuriums were...

Evaluation of Weeds as Virus Reservoirs in Watermelon Crops Planta Daninha
AGUIAR,R.W.S.; ALVES,G.B.; QUEIROZ,A.P.; NASCIMENTO,I.R.; LIMA,M.F..
ABSTRACT: Watermelon is one of the most important vegetable crops in Brazil, which is grouped among the greatest producers worldwide. Viruses stand out among the most damaging disease agents, which can drastically reduce fruit production. In this context, weeds present in the field can also interfere in crop production, acting as reservoirs for viruses. Thus, this study aimed to investigate virus occurrence in weeds at the main watermelon-growing regions in the State of Tocantins. Viruses identification (e.g. potyviruses: Watermelon mosaic virus - WMV; Papaya ring spot virus - type watermelon -PRSV-W; Zucchini yellow mosaic virus- ZYMV; the cucumovirus Cucumber mosaic virus - CMV, and the orthotospovirus Zucchini lethal chlorosis virus - ZLCV) infecting...

Isolado do vírus do mosaico do pepino obtido de bananeira no Estado de São Paulo pertence ao subgrupo Ia Trop. Plant Pathol.
EIRAS,MARCELO; COLARICCIO,ADDOLORATA; CHAVES,ALEXANDRE L.R..

Ocurrence of pepper yellow mosaic virus and cucumber mosaic virus on Capsicum chinense in the state of Amazonas, Brazil Acta Amazonica
SOUZA,Leonor Cristina Silva; HANADA,Rogerio Eiji; ASSIS,Luiz Alberto Guimarães; CAMELO-GARCÍA,Viviana M.; REZENDE,Jorge Alberto Marques; YUKI,Valdir A.; KITAJIMA,Elliot W..
ABSTRACT The habanero chilli pepper, Capsicum chinense is an important crop in the Amazon Basin, mainly grown by small-scale producers. Capsicum chinense plants in an experimental field in the northern Brazilian state of Amazonas were found exhibiting characteristic symptoms of viral infection. Leaf sap from symptomatic plants examined under a transmission electron microscope revealed the presence of elongated flexuous particles and isometric particles. Using molecular assays, the viruses were identified as pepper yellow mosaic virus (PepYMV) and cucumber mosaic virus (CMV). Aphids, identified as Aphis gossypii, were found colonizing the C. chinense plants in the field and may be the vector for both PepYMV and CMV. We report the first occurrence of these...

Aguiar,Raimundo Wagner de Souza; Rodrigues,Adelmo; Portella,Augustus Caeser Franke; Lopes,Magnolia de Mendonça; Lima,Mirtes Freitas; Resende,Renato de Oliveira; Nagata,Tatsuya.
Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) cultivated in almost all tropical and subtropical regions of the world, has its largest output in China, and then, according to FAO data, Turkey, Iran and Brazil, being one of the main crops cultivated in State of Tocantins, Brazil. In this work was investigated the occurrence and distribution of the watermelon viruses, totaling 752 samples taken in a stratified experimental design in four representative regions of production: Gurupi (150), Lagoa da Confusao (232), Formoso do Araguaia (265) and Porto Nacional (105). The sampling and collecting the leaves of plants with the presence of symptoms were performed once a week during the entire cultivation cycle. As a result, were observed by Dot-ELISA method, different types of...
